music: Aetherfront - Interstellar Pt. 1

Planet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Moon

Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Adam

The Sun is in 20 Aries (in my 8th house): A pugilist enters the ring. (Symbol for 21 Aries from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

The Moon is at 6Lib30 (in my 1st house). Lunar mansion (according to Ibn 'Arabi): 15, The Fifth Sky, Sky of Venus and House of Joseph, letter Rā, The Form-Giver (Al-Muṣawwir)

Lunar phase: Gibbous - Overcoming (phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)

In the morning, the Moon will enter my 2nd house.

I am writing this a couple of hours in advance, as I will likely be in the air when the posted time (in CDT) rolls around. I decided to purchase online wifi access becuase I am reading through a dissertation in Dropbox among other things and this helps me to stay productive while flying.

My departing flight was cancelled, so I am now taking a pair of alternate flights that are adding significantly to my arrival time, but that's where we are. Currently I'm in Minneapolis, which is really not a bad airport to hang out in for a few hours.

I spoke with the favored applicant for the position for which we're doing the search. I was somewhat surprised to hear from him that the dept. head was openly angry that this candidate is considering alternate employment in a different area of the university, and that he tried to pressure the candidate into staying with the original plan. My approach is much more detached and, once I had a fuller picture, I was able to move beyond my initial feelings of having been deceived and left out of what was going on. I supported the candidate's inclination to take the more lucrative position and already have a plan "alt-A" and plan B in mind.

One particularly interesting part of the conversation came when the candidate revealed the starting salary for the alternative position and I told him that I am not yet making that much money, even though I am an associate professor in the 20th year of my academic career post graduate school. He was genuinely shocked to learn that and said, "How insulting!" I replied,"Why do you think I have the attitude that I do?" I also described aspects of my academic career as soul-crushing karma that was slowly teaching me detachment.

One of the lessons I'm learning--and I'm pretty sure it is a Saturnian lesson--is that I'm being called upon to demonstrate greater amounts of widsom and of steadiness borne of years of experience, and that I am slowly rising to the occasion, even though I have never thought of myself as being particularly mature within my profession.

Peace,

KH
