Yesterday was mildly interesting. I went to a workshop on databases to search for grant opportunities. Not surprisingly, there isn't a whole lot available in my field.
As part of the process, we were instructed how to log on and how to view our automatic profiles. Naturally, the search engine that compiles lists of publications in the humanities is inferior to the one that compiles lists of publications in the sciences.
Out of curiosity, I Googled my name and the name of one of the composers I've been working on. Among the things that came up was a reference to an article in the major online journal in my field about that composer. It referenced my recording from 2013 in the discography.
I started to look at the article yesterday and have yet to read it through to the end. My search for information on the author indicates that he was teaching at a university but appears to be teaching at a private music school now. He also seems to be primarily a composer and secondarily a scholar.
Perhaps there will be some ideas with which I can enter into "dialogue" and that may inspire me to move ahead with my intention to publish something on this composer's work.
Today I attended jum'ah at an open and affirming mosque via Skype.
