Soli-lunar journal Feb-Mar 2015 day 6 (Jumada Al-Awwal 5 1436)

Very late this evening the Moon will enter Gemini.

This morning it will enter its 5th mansion, the Universal Body, whose letter is غ and whose Divine Name is The Manifest (Asma #75), الظَّاهِرُ.

I'll be working at home today and will take a break to have lunch with a student.

The Ibn 'Arabi scheme for the lunar mansions is evidently based on a theory of emanations from the Divine. The 27th mansion represents Man, while the 28th represents the Hierarchization of the Degrees of Existence, not their Manifestation. That seems to be a transitional station, part of a process of return from the fullness of manifestation to non-manifestation.

There appears to be a lot of symbolism condensed into this scheme, so I imagine it will take some time to unpack some of its significance. There is supposed to be a relationship between the scheme for the mansions and the Meccan Revelations, which are available in excerpted English translation from Pir Press. I am just in the introduction to volume 1 at this point. There also seems to be emphasis on several of the Divine Names chosen for the mansions in the weekly cycle of prayers, Awrad al-usbu', which I have returned to recently.
