The Sun just passed out of 2 Taurus about a half hour ago, so I'll use the symbol for that degree: Natural steps lead to a lawn of clover in bloom (Sabian symbol for 3 Taurus).
The Moon is in 4 Cancer: At a railroad crossing, an automobile is wrecked by a train (Sabian symbol for 5 Cancer).
Overnight, the Moon entered its home sign of Cancer. Simultaneously, it entered its 8th mansion, The Pedestal with the Two Feet, whose letter is ك and whose Divine Name is The Grateful, الشَّكُورُ.
I'm very tired. This past evening I attended a portion of a rehearsal as part of my duties as a member of a faculty review committee. This coming evening I "should" attend a concert by the wind ensemble, which will also feature a choral ensemble. (When I go to a concert that combines different ensembles, I get to be seen by more of the conductors and possibly more of the admins, as well as more of the students, thus increasing the impression that I am supporting performances within the department. Few if any of these people attend my performances, but I learned long ago that this department is not about mutual support.) Tomorrow and the next day I am traveling to the next state for a conference. Somewhere along the line, I need to write a quiz and two final exams, as well as preparing for a doctoral oral exam and review a portfolio for a composition promotional jury. Fortunately there isn't a lot of new content to introduce in my courses at this point. With the number of things I need to organize, before and after traveling for the conference, I decided to cancel my morning classes tomorrow (in addition to the afternoon class, which directly conflicts with the conference). For too many years I have tried to "dot every i and cross every t" with respect to teaching and service before leaving for local conferences. As a result, I would arrive at my hotel exhausted and wouldn't want to leave. I have to be more considerate of my energy level and, when it is time to go to a conference, let other things go so that I can be more present at the conference.
