The Opening Prayer (from Ibn 'Arabi's Awrad al-usbu')

Planet: Venus

Prophet: Joseph

Moon phase: Disseminating - demonstration

The Sun is in 17 Taurus: A woman airing an old bag through the open window of her room (Sabian symbol for 18 Taurus)

The Moon is in its 22nd mansion, which extends from 0 Capricorn to 12 Capricorn 51. This is the first mansion within the fourth seven-fold cycle of the 28 mansions.

In Ibn 'Arabi's listing, the 22nd mansion signifies The Minerals, whose letter is ظ and whose Divine Name is The Precious, الشَّرِيرُ.

In the traditional Arabic system, the 22nd mansion is known as As-Sad Adh-Dhabh, or The Fortune of the Sacrificer. Its keywords are escape from limitation, liberation from constraint, swift flight, deliverance, healing energy. Its image is that of a man with wings on his feet, bearing a helmet on his head. The angel of this mansion is Geliel.

There are no significant lunar or solar transits or ingresses today.

In the afternoon of this past day I received a new computer in my office. The old computer had been in my office since shortly after I arrived there, nearly 13 years ago. I also finished packing and removing items from my office, as the floor tiles are supposed to be replaced this summer. There is a feeling of departure, or perhaps of new arrival, to my office. It is a reminder of the transitory nature of the "vast middle" as I think of the period in which I find myself--neither having newly arrived, nor yet planning to leave permanently. I have referred to my cleaning out of my office as a rehearsal for retirement.
