The Opening Prayer (from Ibn 'Arabi's Awrad al-usbu')

Planet: Sun

Prophet: Idris (Enoch)

Moon phase: First Quarter - action

The Sun is in 6 Cancer: Two nature spirits dancing in the moonlight (Sabian symbol for 7 Cancer).

The Moon is in its 18th mansion, which extends from 8 Scorpio 34 to 21 Scorpio 25. This is the fourth mansion within the third seven-fold cycle of the 28 mansions.

In Ibn 'Arabi's listing, the 18th mansion signifies Sphere of the Ether and the Meteors, Center of Fire, whose letter is ت and whose Divine Name is The Seizer, .الْقَابِضُ

In the traditional Arabic system, the 18th mansion is known as Al-Qalb, The Heart. Its keywords are He Who Seizes, poison and medicine, Angel of Death, protection against inimical forces. It image is that of an adder holding its tail above its head. The angel of this mansion is Egibiel.

In the morning, the Moon will enter its Gibbous phase, signifying overcoming. Soon after that, Mercury will enter my 10th house. IN the afternoon, the Moon will transit my natal Venus (in my 3rd house). Shortly after that, Venus will enter my 12th house.

It's interesting that the transiting Moon will pass over my natal Venus and then transiting Venus will move into my 12th house, the house of hidden things. As it is, my natal Venus is retrograde in Scorpio, i.e. turned in upon itself, intensely.

I have been reading from a book on the Divine Names called Physicians of the Heart, authored by a group of modern Sufi teachers. I am planning to attend a discussion group with the Qadiri-Rifai Sufis in the morning on a chapter that deals with Divine Names related to Love. Within the chapter, there are several references to deep feelings of woundedness, and ways in which certain of the names may contact some of these places in subtle ways.

I'll close with a well-known sevdah song about hidden love:
