Nedjelja 15 Ša'ban 1437

Planet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Sun

Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Idris (Enoch)

The Sun is in 1 Gemini (in my 9th house): Santa Claus furtively filling stocking hanging in front of the fireplace. (Symbol for 2 Gemini from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

The Moon is at 8Sag38 (in my 3rd house). Lunar mansion (according to Ibn 'Arabi): 20, The Water, letter Sīn, The Life-Giver (Al-Muḥyī)

Lunar phase: Full Moon - Fulfillment (Phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)

About 20 minutes before akšam (magrib), the Moon will enter my 4th house.

In the evening I attended a zikr with the Qadiri-Rifai dervishes in Massachusetts. It had been a while since I had been there. We had a guest join us via Skype from South Africa. Other than that, it was just the host couple and me. We had a nice chat afterwards. I met them almost 2 years ago. Perhaps I will meet their shaykh this summer.

A professional associate with whom I was friends on Facebook passed away during the night. A few days ago his sister posted a message, tagging him so that people who know him would see it. He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of a cancer a few weeks ago. By the time she posted, there were a few options left, including palliative measures with the expectation that he would pass in a few days. Intuitively, that seemed to me to be the option I would likely choose. Instead, he chose a more drastic intervention. Unfortunately, that didn't work out, so the option defaulted to palliative measures. He would have turned 39 tomorrow. R.I.P. Not one to broadcast on FB whether or not I am praying for anyone, I brought up the situation at zikr and we did 3 Fatihas for him.

Ponedjeljak 16 Ša'ban 1437

Planet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Moon

Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Adam

The Sun is in 2 Gemini (in my 9th house): The garden of the Tuileries in Paris. (Symbol for 3 Gemini from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

The Moon is at 15Sag14 (in my 4th house). Lunar mansion (according to Ibn 'Arabi): 20, The Water, letter Sīn, The Life-Giver (Al-Muḥyī)

Lunar phase: Full Moon - Fulfillment (Phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)

In the morning, the Moon will transit my natal Moon (in my 4th house).

Reflecting on the conversation following zikr yesterday evening, it seems to me that it was significant for the sense of humor that we brought to the search for participation in Sufism. It also seemed to me that it is beginning to get easier to reference my experience in the Amma organization without it bringing up the kind of emotional charge that it did for several years.

During the zikr itself, it occurred to me that, since I will be in NYC on Thursday and will be staying in Stamford, I might want to stop in for part of the NAJ zikr while I am there. I contacted a dervish about the idea, and she informed me that there is an alternative location while the masjid undergoes renovations. This might be an opportunity for me to come to terms with some of the unfinished business I seem to have around NAJ.

Peace,
