Planet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Sun

Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Idris (Enoch)

Lunar phase: Balsamic - Release (Phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)

The Sun is in 18 Aquarius (in my 5th house): A forest fire is being subdued by the use of water, chemicals and sheer muscular energy. (Symbol for 19 Aquarius from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

Overnight, the Moon entered Aquarius (in my 5th house). About an hour and a half ago, the Moon transited my natal South Node (in my 5th house). In about 45 minutes, the Moon will transit my natal Saturn (in my 5th house).

In the evening, I watched CITIZENFOUR, which I had rented from Netflix back in September. It was one of those semesters where I found it difficult to justify taking the time to watch a film. This continued until last night, when my resistance finally broke down. It was a more engaging film than I had expected.

During breaks from my scholarly research projects, I have been working slowly through lists of astrological events having to do with Neptune over the course of my life. Recently I've been focusing on Neptune in relation to Venus. By using the technique known as secondary progressions, in which the actual motion of a planet in one day is interpreted as symbolizing the unfolding of a potential over one year of one's life, I found some surprising coincidences. Progressed Venus (which was moving retrograde, as it was in my birth chart) crossed over progressed Neptune 2 weeks before I met my husband. (Of course, I was actively searching at that time, and we had been in contact through the mail and by phone prior to meeting, so our first date--while being our first face-to-face meeting--was not our first contact of any kind.) Then, some 20 years later, progressed Venus (now moving direct) crossed over progressed Neptune about a month before my husband and I registered our civil union status with the town.

I have been paying more attention to progressed planets since I had a consultation (over the phone) with an astrologer from New Mexico a couple of months ago. Prior to that, I had been told that by another astrologer that progressed planets tend to paint a "blurry" picture, but I am finding that they tend to resonate fairly strongly with me. In researching the topic yesterday, I found that a well-known astrologer uses them as one of the principal components of her predictive work. That seems like something worth looking into further.
