Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Aaron & John
Lunar phase: Crescent - Expansion (Phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)
The Sun is in 22 Aries (in my 8th house): A pregnant woman in light summer dress. (Symbol for 23 Aries from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)
About 50 minutes before zora/sabah (fedžr), the Moon will enter Cancer (in my 10th house). In the morning, Mercury will enter my 9th house.
As a result of doing a year-by-year reflection on my life through the lens of Kennet Gillman's astrological approach, I was able to reconnect with the sense of discovery and sociability that was one of the themes of my return to public school in 8th grade (after an interesting but difficult year in private school in 7th grade). Other themes included, of course, the inevitable awkwardness of that age.
My reflection on the period from 3rd through 6th grade stimulated a curiosity to see what became of the boy next door, who was an ambivalent and problematic figure in the neighborhood. In my search, I came up with a FB profile that shows that he is now married to a man. (I thought I had found out previously that he had been divorced, I assume from a conventional marriage.) In one photo, he was posing in a reunion photo with a woman who had been one of the girls in the neighborhood. She grew up to be quite attractive.
I recalled that one of the things that this boy did was to schedule "neighborhood club" meetings in conflict with a TV show that everyone knew that I liked. It was frequently the case that I was put in situations of conflict between my interests and the "normal" activities of the neighborhood. In general, I chose in favor of my interests. It's not surprising, therefore, that I developed an academic and musical profile that served as the basis for my career (such as it is). Out of curiosity, I looked up references to that TV show online. I still remembered which child actors on it were my favorites. Looking back at the opening sequence of the show, I could see why, as they were the most attractive boy and girl of the bunch. The boy grew up to become a playwright in New York. I'm not sure what the girl has done since, but there are some more recent photos of her online as well.
Apparently Stephen Fry said some insensitive things about victims of sexual assult in the media recently. I found out because Olly Alexander tweeted that he was upset with the comments that Fry had made, but also wrote that Twitter was not the right place to discuss them.
I find that, as I continue to listen to Years & Years, it's as if I'm listening to a soundtrack of what my early 20s were like even though I didn't know of anyone whose lyrics spoke to my experience as directly. As much as I have resigned myself to getting on with being middle aged and trying to turn my attention to productive pursuits with the time that remains to me in sound body and mind, here and there I catch glimpses of feelings of a kind of naive vitality (or memories of those feelings) that haven't completely died out yet.
