Prophet of the day (according to Ibn 'Arabi): Abraham
The Sun is in 29 Aquarius (in my 6th house) Deeply rooted in the past of an ancient culture, a spiritual brotherhood in which many individual minds are merged into the glowing light of a unanimous consciousness is revealed to one who has emerged successfully from his metamorphosis. (Symbol for 30 Aquarius from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

At about 20 minutes after sabah (fedžr), the Moon will transit my natal Venus (in my 3rd house). About 50 minutes after that, the Sun will enter Pisces (in my 6th house). In the early afternoon, the Moon will enter Sagittarius (in my 3rd house). About 40 minutes after that, the Moon will enter its Last Quarter phase, whose keyword is Re-orientation. (The Moon will be at 0Sag20 in my 3rd house and the Sun will be at 0Pis20 in my 6th house.)
Taught this past morning. It was fairly uninspiring, but I got through it. Then I left campus and, after having a light, early lunch, I went to džuma for the first time since (I think) last October. It was great. When I entered the mosque, I could hear that someone was reciting the Qur'an. An oversize Qur'an was passed from one man to another. In all, I heard four of them recite before the azan. It was good to be back in that environment.
This evening, after finishing dinner and praying akšam (magrib), I watched Moon, written and directed by David Bowie's son, Duncan Jones. I had had the DVD from Netflix since May, and finally gave myself permission to take the time to watch it.
These may be small victories, but they signal that I am regaining a bit of control over my life, and that I am moving toward renormalizing my life in Trump's America.
I have been fairly quiet about this, but I am continuing to read Mark Sedgwick's Against the Modern World. I suppose I had thought I might feel less comfortable about my interest in esoteric traditions as a result of reading it, but I am finding instead that it is helping me to see how I have been feeling my way along the edges of well-established approaches to esotericism in the West for some time. I see that he has a follow-up book that is devoted specifically to Sufism. This reading is helping me to feel more comfortable about the heterogeneity of my spiritual pursuits as well as the spottiness of my direct involvement in groups devoted to those pursuits.
