A day of working at home.
I have been feeling inclined to reacquaint myself with some of the NAJ practices (wird, salawat, personally prescribed zikr) and to contemplate the 15 years between the time I left Atlanta to take my job here and where I am now. One way of interpreting my (mis)adventures in the Amma group is to see it as an attempt to realize the universalist aspect of Nur's work at a time when NAJ seemed a bit confining, limited, or lacking in spiritual power. Since I have returned to Islamic practices (first in 2010 and, again, in 2013), I have been regarding myself as someone with a past in Sufism, though currently unaffiliated. While it has been nice to make some friends in another tariqat, I am not feeling strongly inclined to try to become a member of it. Instead, I have been feeling inclined to resume some specifically NAJ practices and then see where that leads, if anywhere.
