The Sun is in 25 Taurus (in my 9th house): A Spanish gallant serenades his beloved. (Symbol for 26 Taurus from Dane Rudhyar, An Astrological Mandala)

The Moon is at 21Cap42 (in my 5th house). Lunar mansion (according to Ibn 'Arabi): 23, The Vegetables, letter Thā, The Nourisher (Ar-Razzāq)

Lunar phase: Disseminating - Demonstration (phase names and keywords from Dane Rudhyar, The Lunation Cycle)

A few minutes after midnight, Mercury will enter Taurus (in my 8th house). In the early afternoon, the Moon will enter Aquarius (in my 5th house). Later in the afternoon, Venus will enter my 8th house.

I went to New York last week to hear two concerts of music by John Luther Adams and others. Since then I have continued to work on the syllabus and course materials for one of my courses for the fall, and to make arrangements for the next interview in the faculty search.

Little by little, I am beginning to open up some space to listen to music that I would like to research and to think about approaches. It seems that a common theme--whether I am dealing with the music of Peter Garland, John Luther Adams, Hans Otte, Dane Rudhyar, or John Tavener--has to do with opening up space and a sense of wonder that transcends the usual preoccupations of competitive, status-seeking late capitalism.

Speaking of which, an email came today from the Dean in which she instructed us to enter our activities into an online database as our application for merit pay, of which there will not be any this year.
