This morning over breakfast I sent an email to the satsang leader, letting her know that I was planning to stay in today and that I had family and work conflicts the next two Saturdays.

Then I looked at my astrological calendar, which is just a mini-report of the days transits and progressions and the Moon's sign position. This is what it said: "Concentrate on home and family now. Undertake activities that nurutre yourself and your loved ones. A pause in your social calendar helps you reassess your friendships and more serious relationships." Right. :-)

When I saw what the date was, I was reminded that this would have been my grandmother's 96th birthday. She died while I was on an Amma retreat in 2005. At that time she was 89.

Thanks for the good wishes. Just to be clear, today would have been my paternal grandmother's birthday. The 4th anniversary of my mother's funeral will be next weekend, as will my partner's mother's 85th birthday.

At my age, one needs a second "social" calendar to keep track of wakes, funerals, death anniversaries, and the birth anniversaries of the departed. :-)
